Content editing

Do you have existing content on your website or for your newsletter, e-zine, magazine, blog, e-book, report or brochure? Or draft text that you’ve written and rewritten, and read and re-read and feel it’s still not quite right?

When you become so familiar with particular content, sometimes you can’t see the wood for the trees. A professional editor provides a fresh eye and can help you find new angles, rework the structure if necessary and make suggestions to tighten or expand the copy to ensure it’s understandable and engaging to your target market.

Let me edit your copy to make it more engaging, turn jargon into plain English, rewrite clunky sentences, restructure the text so it flows and check facts and details.

I can also proofread your content to make sure it is free of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors.

These are just some of the topics in which I have experience editing and proofreading:

  • Self-development/personal growth
  • Health & fitness
  • Lifestyle
  • Sex, gender & sexuality diversity
  • Arts and entertainment
  • Building and construction
  • Architecture and design
  • Human resources
  • Employment

  • Occupational health

  • Human rights
  • Animal advocacy
  • Environment and sustainability

Proofreading

You’ve got a great website, newsletter, e-zine, magazine, blog, e-book, report or brochure. It’s all been beautifully designed and laid out, with the copy flowed in. So far, so good.

But before you launch your product to your clients or readership, ask yourself this question:

Are you confident that your content is free of spelling mistakes and grammatical errors?

If there’s one thing that spoils the most creative and professionally presented documents, reports, magazines and marketing materials, or a fabulous hi-tech website, and that’s glaring errors in your text.

For example, do you know the difference between:

  • your and you're?
  • their and there?
  • affect and effect?

I am a professional editor and proofreader with 14 years’ experience, so let me cast an eagle eye over your print or online copy and weed out any typos, spelling mistakes, grammatical and punctuation errors.

Public speaking

My specialist areas are gender politics; sexuality (gay, lesbian, bisexual, queer); sex and/or gender diversity (transsexual, transgender etc); and animal advocacy.

I am particularly interested in the intersectionality of different oppressions, how these play out in the practice of social justice campaigning, and how connections can be made that result in equality for all.

If you would like me to speak at your event or chair your panel, please email me at info [at] katrinafox [dotcom].
