Interviews
During my 14 years as a journalist who’s worked on a range of publications in the UK, Australia and US, I’ve interviewed thousands of people.
These include celebrities (Martina Navratilova, Chrissie Hynde, Jackie Collins, Lily Tomlin, Jeanette Winterson to name just a few), government ministers and politicians, academics, activists, CEOs, small business owners, entrepreneurs, workers, creatives and professional experts.
I’ve interviewed people from pretty much all walks of life and I love doing this: hearing about others’ experiences, views and stories, then turning them into compelling copy for readers.
How can my interviewing skills help you?
Many websites are full of content that’s basically sales speak – copy that’s designed to make readers buy product or service. It’s generally full of SEO keywords with a ‘pushy’ feel to it.
Now, that’s ok for specific sales pages, but before the reader gets to those pages, they are going to want to read interesting and engaging copy.
Personal stories or quotes from ‘real’ people are a great way to create compelling content.
Remember, people love to buy, but they hate being sold to. By providing case studies on your website (and in print publications) you can promote your message, services or product without an obvious ‘hard sell’.
A profile of a particular person in your company or industry is another way of keeping readers on your site or holding on to your newsletter, magazine or brochure.
Profile pieces provide information about the person interviewed, as well as their insights and experiences.
A skilled interviewer can elicit stories and experiences that range from insightful and thought-provoking to helpful and amusing.
Let me combine my vast interviewing and writing skills to create lively and unique copy for your website, e-zine, blog, newsletter or magazine.
